The illustrations in this book are inspired by Neeta Pramchand's love of hand-made paper and Indian and Persian miniature painting. Both interests have been enthusiastically nurtured by Dr. Eberhard Fischer, a close friend and the former director of the Museum Rietberg in Zurich.
The paper used in all the collages is made by hand in Daulatabad, following a 17th century tradition. It is block printed in Ahmedabad, following another fast disappearing tradition, using hand-carved wooden blocks.
