The Myth of the Flood from the Epic of Gilgamesh

Many waves of conquerors came down from the mountains into the fertile land. The Sumerians, the Akkadians, the Assyrians, the Babylonians. They had many gods, but each new wave took over the gods of the preceeding people. And the stories as well. Thus we have many versions of the myth of the flood.
